Motivational Secret Increased Productivity in UNN- VC Says

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN, Professor Chukwuma Ozumba, has said “motivation is the secret behind the increased productivity among the staff of the nations’ premier independent university.

Ozumba, who spoke in an interview said his administration realised the need to motivate lecturers and other non-academic staff of the institution, saying the International Webometric ranking, which placed the university as the first among all the universities in the country, was among such successes being recorded.

He added that it is not a chance occurrence, but the result of a well thought-out policy aimed at increasing academic productivity among scholars and scientists of the university.

Ozumba, who is a professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, stressed that motivation of staff was at its lowest ebb before he assumed office two years ago, pointing out that he went to work with his team, bringing a favourable turnaround for UNN.

A professor, who asked not to be named, corroborated the Vice Chancellor’s statement, saying Ozumba’s administration had also restored adequate funding of departments and other units of the university.
